Whether or not they 'talk about Bruno', everyone is talking about Encanto, Disney's latest animated triumph.
Catchy tunes and fabulous choreography notwithstanding, the real winner in the story is the person on whom the lead character of Mirabel is based, Mira Bella M (last name withheld at her request, for privacy). Mira does not come from a Guild family, and earned her spot owing to the incredible work she's done promoting education for outlying youth in her home country of Colombia.
A firm believer in not waiting for Muhammad to go to the mountain, Mira routinely moves mountains and traverses them in order to bring school supplies and homework to students who can't it to school. And what's more, her good example is sowing seeds of service in her community where more and more citizens are volunteering to be of service to their neighbors and regions.
Felicidades, Mira. You are enchanting indeed.
